About us

The VMA (Vereinigung Deutscher M&A-Berater) was founded in 2007 as sub-association/committee of the BM&A e.V. (Bundesverband Mergers & Acquisitions). We understand ourselves as professional association of leading and independent mid-market M&A advisory companies in Germany.

Our clients are mainly medium-sized enterprises with a focus on international activities, but also large multinational corporations and financial investors. We offer our clients excellent consulting services in the fields of the sale or acquisition of companies, succession planning, growth-capital, financing, and more. 

 

Goals

Our primary goal is to increase the transparency and reliability for our clients by applying high quality standards and strict ethical values as well as a recognized certification system. Therefore, we

  • develop quality standards and corresponding certification processes (in close dialogue with the BM&A e.V.)
  • facilitate the exchange of experience among our members, for example by sharing best practice based on a strict ethical code (comparable with the Attorney Code of Conduct)
  • create publicity for the profession of M&A consultancies by doing systematic PR
  • support the international networking of our profession with comparable organizations abroad to meet the growing demand for foreign investors
  • engage in political lobbying, for example in terms of inheritance tax law, income tax law for capital gains, taxation of private equity funds, etc.

who wish to arrange for their succession and are looking for a reliable and professional M&A advisor to find the best solution for the company and its employees.

who usually work together with large investment banks and now are looking for professional support for M&A activities in the classical mid-sized market.

who are looking for professional M&A advisors to conduct exits or add-on acquisitions.

who have no internal M&A expertise but have been asked by their clients for support in finding and selecting an M&A advisor for a mid-market transaction.

who are owner-operated and looking for like-minded, independent M&A consultancies for the professional exchange of experience.

who wish to have access to several M&A consultancies to get feedback to current trends on the German M&A market.

Membership

Full membership of the VMA can be obtained by all recognized, independent mid-market M&A consultancies who fulfill the admission criteria and introduce themselves personally to the existing members during a VMA workshop. Individuals may not be a member of the VMA. Simultaneous membership of the BM&A is not mandatory.

In return, every member acquires the right to participate on events organized and carried out by the VMA for free or at reduced prices. Additionally, members can advertise the fact that they are subject to the code of ethics and guidelines for good practice of the VMA. Members are also obliged to display the official VMA logo accompanied by the words "Mitglied der VMA" in their business documents.
